How to Play with Instalinux - Without a Spare Machine
For those of you that have wanted to try out Instalinux
but don't have a spare machine around, here's an option...
Try it out on a Virtual Machine, using these easy steps:
- Download VMWare Player
here and install it.
- Dowload a Blank Virtual Machine
here and unzip it.
-- Note that this VM is set up to grow as large as 8GB, but it starts very small.
- Go to the System Designer and
create an install disk for the Distro of your choice.
-- Be sure to make it for i386, and to select "SCSI0:0 - First SCSI disk (sda)" in Step 4a.
- Save the ISO image into the folder with the Blank Virtual Machine, as "instalinux.iso."
- Fire up your virtual machine and type "install" at the prompt. Watch as
LinuxCOE does its magic.
- Live out the rest of your days in smug satisfaction.
